Habagat 2012 vs Ondoy 2009 Comparison

I am getting several comments if Cambridge Village was flooded last week when Metro Manila was battered with heavy rain – it wasn’t. I took a picture of the same place, the subdivision beside Cambridge Village, that was flooded last year:

This is the subdivision beside Cambridge Village, near the church. The picture is taken during Ondoy on 2009. During Ondoy’s peak, that Isuzu Alto on the lower right corner is almost underwater – only portion of the roof can be seen.

This is the village beside Cambridge Village, near the church. The photo is taken during the heavy downpour of Habagat 2012.

Inside Cambridge Village, it was dry. Surprisingly, the water level in front of the genset didn’t rise! What helped is the fact that the perimeter fence on the northern side of compound didn’t break otherwise, that water on the picture would have flooded Cambridge Village.

  2. That’s good to know that Cambridge is free from flood. In fact, we backed out early this year from buying one because of flood issue.

It’s a good decision not to buy unit in Cambridge. They don’t know how to maintain the facilities and amenities. The hall ways are always wet during rainy seasons . I’ve been there for 4 years and I haven’t seen any improvements in their messy, dirty, painted and not tiled hall ways, it’s like National Housing in Pandacan..Check the existing buildings and on how they maintain them, and not the sample units before you decide to buy a condo unit. Invest your money wisely.

That’s good to know. Hopefully we can find dry roads to Cambridge during rainy seasons when we finally move in late this year.

    • Hi John,

There’s no problem during rainy season. The East Bank Rd. is pretty high, just avoid the F. Legazpi Street during heavy rains since it’s flood prone. It’s still best to take the Ortigas Ave. Ext. and make a u-turn in front of the Oasis compound.

      Hope that helps.

  5. Nice to know that the area was not affected by the flood brought by habagat. I have friends who decided to live their and their feedback was okay. I bought a unit in cluster 36 and I hope everything turns well when I move in.

Your blogs are so helpful in setting my expectation about this village.
